3D printed shoes are set to take Portland’s fashion week by storm this fall, as local designer Seth Aaron is pairing his runway fashion looks with footwear 3D printed in collaboration with Feetz, a San Diego startup that specializes in custom 3D printed shoes.

Aaron, who won the seventh season of Project Runway, has so far kept the actual shoe designs under wraps, making us even more excited for their debut on the catwalk this October at FashioNext in Portland, Oregon.
Each pair of shoes featured at the fashion event will be custom-made for the model, and will be made entirely from recycled and recyclable materials. Sustainability is an important facet of Aaron’s designs, as he makes a point to center his fashion on eco-friendly materials.
For instance, the prolific designer is known for using materials made from recyclable plastic bottles as well as organic fabrics. For Portland’s 2010 fashion week, Aaron showcased a number of pieces that incorporated solar panels. This collection was realized through a collaboration with Solar World, an Oregon-based manufacturer of solar panels.
The 3D printed shoes made with Feetz will mark the first time Aaron has worked with 3D printing technologies, and could very well mark the first designer collection of 3D printed footwear. And while we have no idea what these highly anticipated shoes will look like, Aaron has suggested that they will be high heeled or platformed.

"Now I get to take my fascinations with shoes and do it in the most state of the art capability possible," Aaron told local news. "It's pretty amazing how it works.”
3D printed footwear company Feetz will reportedly take Aaron’s designs and manufacture them using its state-of-the-art 3D printing equipment. Excitingly, Aaron has said that attendees of FashioNEXT will be able to order their own 3D printed shoes from the event.
Feetz representatives will even be on hand at the event to 3D scan customers’ feet so that the shoes can be printed and shipped out within a week or two.
Readers may remember Feetz as the company that 3D printed a pair of custom shoes for Broc Brown, a 19-year-old from Michigan who has size 28 feet. In 2016, the company also partnered with footwear retailer DSW Inc. to make custom 3D printed shoes more accessible.
