Dutch astronaut Andre Kuipers of the European Space Agency (ESA), NASA astronaut Don Pettit and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko arrived yesterday at the ISS onboard Russian Soyuz spacecraft, which launched Wednesday (Dec. 21) from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Congratulations!
In the same time, Jason Dunn, President and Co-Founder of Made in Space, made a speech at TEDx event at Embry Riddle University about colonizing the space and additive manufacturing in space. Watch the video below:
Note: Made in Space, Inc. has been selected for a NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to develop in-space 3D manufacturing capability for the International Space Station. They will receive up to $125,000 in NASA funding sometime next year. 3D printing technology could enable astronauts build any number of objects based on the designs uploaded from control center.
