3D printers got a great deal of visitors and press attention at CES 2012, during the show, CNET's Rafe Needleman interviews the makers of two 3D printer: 3D Systems' Cubify and the MakerBot Replicator and discusses the Future of 3D Printing and how they are charting the future of manufacturing. The guests presented were MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis and Cathy Lewis from 3D Systems. Their products Cubify & Replicator were discussed and compared. 2012 will be a great and exciting for 3D printing, but as Bre Pettis said in the interview, "We are in this time - where it's the beginning." The new cube looks very nice, or some people say it looks more like a consumer product. But still, you need quite some technical knowledge to use a 3D printer. That's why it is just the beginning - not a laptop or Ipad that everyone can plug & play. 3D printing technology is developed fast but still a long way to go before we all have 3D printers in our homes.
