What are the best gift to make for Mother's Day, if you have a 3D printer? These bracelets from Nervous System won't disappoint her. The Diagrid Bracelet, Regular bracelet and Subdivision Bracelet from their Cell Cycle collection have been uploaded to Thingiverse with three sizes (small, medium and large) for anyone to download and 3D-print it.

Inspired by the complex forms of radiolarians, where intricate pattern is integral to structure, these shapes derive from a simulation of spring meshes which form mirrored catenoid surfaces.
Nervous System is a Design studio founded by MIT alums Jesse Louis-Rosenberg and Jessica Rosenkrantz. Rosenkrantz, who studied biology and architecture, and Louis-Rosenberg, who studied mathematics, take inspiration from nature and have developed full collections of gorgeous jewelry using computers. The have even developed their own program "the Cell Cycle design app" that allows customers to shape, twist, and subdivide, transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure and create their own pieces. The cellular nature of their designs enclose a large amount of space but use only a small amount of material. By minimizing the material usage, the manufacturing costs of these pieces can be minimized and that's part of their design idea - to bring 3D printed products to the masses.
