This evening, in London, there is going to be a "Human vs 3D printer" event at London's Victoria and Albert Museum, featuring the Maxit 3D printer from A1 Technologies Ltd. This event is the Re-Match of Wilcox vs 3D Printer, following his success at Milan design week.

British designer Dominic Wilcox, graduate of the RCA Design Product course, creates unique, often humourous objects inspired by human behaviour. Wilcox takes on the rapid prototyping machine for a re-match, making a model by hand as the printer produces the same form from a computer file.

The 3D printer supplied by A1 Technologies is their newest developed model Maxit 3D printer. The Maxit is super light (only 2.7kg) and very easy to transport. It contains not more than 200 parts, so the kit assembly is no more difficult than an IKEA furniture.
Maxit has 210 x 160 x 100 mm printable area and can print parts up to 60mm/sec. It uses 3mm ABS and PLA filament and the standard nozzle size is 0.5mm.

The quoted price of the Maxit 3D printer kit is at £995 (US$1,610/€1,220), and it is available for pre-order now.
