Solidscape, manufacturer of high precision 3D printers, a Stratasys company, announces the launch of the 3ZPRO high precision wax 3D printer. The Solidscape printers combine patent-protected, drop-on-demand ("DoD") thermoplastic ink-jetting technology and high-precision milling of each layer to build a part.

The 3ZPRO printer allows users of any technical level to produce their own high precision wax parts, ready for casting, with just one-touch. With a price tag of $45,650 USD, the 3ZPRO printer is fully automated and its features include self testing and auto-calibration functions, wireless connectivity, and the ability to load and manage jobs from a remote desktop.

The software is designed to be user-friendly, with great flexibility in scheduling, simplification of the workflow, and remote management.

"Operators only need to refill materials and replace the build plate, similar to what they already do with their home printer." said Fabio Esposito, VP Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Solidscape, Inc.

System Specifications:

  • Resolution: 5000 X 5000 dpi (197 X 197 dots/mm) in X, Y; 4000 dpi (158 dots/mm) in Z
  • Accuracy: ± 0.0010 inch/inch (±.0254mm) along each axis X, Y and Z
  • Layer Thickness: User selectable through variable slider
  • Surface Finish: 32-63 micro-inches (RMS)
  • Desk-top Size: 21.4" W X 18"D X 16" H (558 X 495 X 419 mm)
  • Weight: 80 lbs. weight (34 kg)
  • Build Envelope: 6" X 6" X 4" (152.4 X 152.4 X 101.6 mm)
  • Power Requirements: 90-250-v, 10A @ 230v max consumption

Solidscape is also introducing stronger, more durable materials, 3ZMODEL and 3ZSUPPORT. These materials produce wax parts with superior casting properties; fast meltout, no ash or residue, and no thermal expansion.

The 3Z Model Material has a 23% strength improvement over plusCAST® and over 50% stronger than previous generations.

Features:

  • Organic compound with wax-like properties is jetted as micro-droplets to form an object
  • Clean burnout during casting process – no residual ash or shrinkage
  • Low melting point 221º - 239ºF (95º - 115ºC)
  • Non-toxic; registered by TSCA

The 3Z Support automatically generates a structure to protect the part during the build process. This saves on labor by eliminating the need for CAD designers to configure support structures during the design of new pieces. Once the printing is completed, labor is saved again because the Support material completely dissolves away in a liquid solution, leaving a clean wax part without the need for manual refining.
