Printrbot launched a new Kickstarter project to help schools and students. The ideas is, you pay $700 for two Printrbot jr. kits, you keep one for yourself and give another one to a local school.

The Printrbot jr. is the mini version of the Printrbot series 3D printer. It uses biodegradable, non-toxic PLA only and does not come with a heated platform. It uses also one less motor to make the process simpler.

Features:

  • Build volume: 4 x 4 x 4 in (102 x 102 x 102 mm)
  • Uses biodegradable, non-toxic PLA only (no ABS)
  • Super light at 6.3 lbs (2.9kg) NOT including the power supply
  • Small and portable
  • Batteries optional. Ships with off the shelf 12V power supply.
  • Printer dimension: 10 × 10 × 6 in (254 x 154 x 152 mm)

Find more information or simply back the project here on Kickstarter.

We have created a blog of the build process from a kids perspective - see here: http:\\3dmodelminds.com. It has been very educational so far.
