MAQET is a site where you can create your own customized toys - MAQETs. Using MAQET's web-based creation software you can choose from a wide variety of shapes and then add your favorite color, or personalize and transform a blank MAQET into a unique piece that tells your own story. You can see your art transforming in real-time 3D. When you click "Make it Real," the company will print them out for you.
MAQETs are made of special plaster-based powders that are layered and bonded together on a 3D printer. The colors are infused and embedded. They are then hand-finished with a special proprietary process to achieve their distinctive glaze and have a similar appearance to ceramic or porcelain. In about 4-7 days, you'll receive your unique MAQET.
MAQET recently released Emily the Strange, their first licensed 3D-printed DIY figure. Emily the Strange came to life in the early 1990's and quickly became a beloved counterculture icon all around the world. After many months development, Emily finally arrives in MAQET's shop. The standard Emily the Strange on Maquet are "street punk" and "burning" designed by Rob Reger. Artist Shin Nao created his version of Emily, the Graffiti, Patchwork and Red Kimono Emily. But if you want to show off your own character you can make your own.
The Emily the Strange MAQETs are available on the site starting at $40 here. For $10 you can order a Mystery display base for each MAQET.
