The fully assembled AO-101 3D printer is the next generation printer from Aleph Objects, Inc. It has the same design and frame as previous version AO-100, but offers stronger vitamins, updated RAMBo electronics, improved solid plate and pulley and spooling system. It is claimed to be faster and quieter than ever and can offer a higher quality of 3D prints.

- Top Print Speed: 200mm/sec (7.9in/sec)
- Print Tolerance: 0.2mm (0.008in) in X and Y axes. Z axis is dependent on layer thickness
- Layer Thickness: 0.075mm (0.0029in) to 0.75mm (0.029in), with included nozzles
- Supported Materials: ABS and PLA plastic filaments
- Usable Filament Sizes: standard 3mm (0.1in) and 1.75mm (0.007in) with included accessory and setup
- Physical Dimensions
- Overall Dimensions: 464mm x 483mm x 381mm (18.3in x 19in x 15in)
- Weight: 8.18kg (18lbs)
Here are a list of upgrades and changes to the AO-101:
- RAMBo electronics, including a new enclosed electronics case
- 12VDC 16A, brick style, enclosed power supply that can accept 110VAC to 240VAC. This power supply will also accept most country type AC cables with a PC power supply type plug
- Budaschnozzle 1.2a hot end
- GT2 16 tooth pulleys, for higher torque
- Adjustable Y belt tensioner
- Revised Z axis that greatly reduces wobble in prints
- Revised feed tube support to make the feed tube less constrained
- Revised filament spool mount that allows the adjustment of how easily the spool spins
- The printer now only ships in one package for lower shipping costs

That is true it used to come with more stuff, but the price was more too. The main point of buying a printer already built (and this is where a lot of people miss the point) is to have it work with little work and not have to know how to build things. For instance, I can put together PCs, repair/upgrade computers but I don't feel comfortable building my own 3d printer yet. My second printer, if needed will be build by me. You also get 1yr support, via phone and email. So yes at $1725 it does cost more than building your own, but newbs get support and a fully working and calibrated machine. There are a lot of 3d printers that cost more that do the same thing and a there are kits to build your own that cost almost the same, with all the parts included.

Yep...You can buy full Mendelmax kits for $700 now, which is what these printers are based on. I think the build volume is smaller too on these. Good reputation though. I'm willing to pay a premium for quality, but double the price?...Think not.

This is a good printer and lulzbot is an excellent company you can not go wrong with these guys, BUT....... 3drs.org always has the best stories and info so here is the truth. The list of downgrades to cover the cost of the upgrades. (Its all in the fine print 'parts included') AO-100 Starter filament was 3 rolls, now 1 roll (minus $200 value). Used to include extra glass bed and drill bits (minus $50 value.) This explains the other upgrade...."printer now only ships in one package for lower shipping costs". The 3d printer industry is changing so fast. It is a confusing time to be a new 3d printer shopper. Next month there will always be a better cheaper printer.........
