IdeasProject, launched by Nokia in 2011, is an online global community where mobile enthusiasts, designers, developers and incubators can join, share and collaboratively create applications for mobile platforms. Participants can create or respond to innovation "challenges" and work together to solve the challenges.
After Nokia released its 3D printing file for the Lumia 820 covers, IdeasProject started a new challenge: 3D Printing - Share a cool design for a Nokia Lumia 820 mobile phone case, where top 5 winning ideators could win an all paid trip to Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.
Here are the details:
3D Printing is quickly becoming the next big thing in technology and we want to help you join in the fun with your own designs and ideas. This is your chance to share your design ideas for the Nokia Lumia 820.
There are two aspects of the design that you could consider for the shell:
- One idea for consideration is the aesthetic design and artistic aspect that would be most embraced by mobile phone users.
- A second idea would be a mobile phone case that encompasses a wider aspect of design including both the aesthetics and hardware aspects. (Some examples might be: a case with a larger built-in battery, a case with a built-in heavy duty speakerphone that connects via Bluetooth or whatever your dream feature is for a mobile phone case.)
The top 5 ideas will be considered for printing at Mobile World Congress on February 25-28 in Barcelona, Spain. The top 5 winning ideators will have an opportunity to qualify for a flight and accommodations to Mobile World Congress to share in the excitement of the event.
Jury:
- Jarno Piironen, Director, Head of Audio, Inbox and Smart Covers, Nokia
- Rhys Newman, Head of Advanced Design, Nokia
- John Kneeland, Community and Developer Marketing Manager, Nokia
- Kirsten Kuehl, Global Head of IdeasProject Community, Nokia
Judging criteria:
- Clear articulation of designs in written language and visuals where possible 20%
- Real life possibility of being made into a mobile phone cover 20%
- Aesthetic design and creativity 20%
- Likelihood that mobile consumers will take interest in your design 20%
- Community appeal for your idea 20%
Submission deadline: February 15
The winners will be announced on or about February 18 and notified soon thereafter.
