In eastern countries people do not express feelings the same way westerners do. It is not common to see people hugging or kissing in public. Emotions are rather expressed in actions and in deeds. For example, in Japan women give presents (mainly chocolates) to men on Valentine's Day, is a way to express their love. And men are supposed to return gifts to women on "White Day", one month later, March 14th.

Therefore, "FabCafe" in Shibuya, Tokyo is organizing a workshop to offer women a chance to make 3D chocolates modeled from their own face using 3D scanner and 3D printer.

FabCafe, owned by Loft Work Inc, is a space furnished with a variety of digital fabrication tools, including a laser cutter and a 3D printer where young people can enjoy making things.

The workshop will be held in early February (Feb.2 and Feb.9, two Saturdays) and only women are allowed to participate in it.

Schedule of the workshop

Day 1:
1. 360 degree 3D scan face and face expression
2. Making 3D model in computer using 3D scanning data
3. Print out the 3D portrait for creating a mold of on a ProjetHD 3D printer from 3D Systems.

The cost of the workshop is 6000 yen / EUR 42 / US$ 67. Since only women are allowed to join this event, FabCafe is planing such an event for men's white day.

The workshop is so popular that it was immediately full booked. There are a lot of photo booth projects in the worldwide, but this is the first workshop that combines 3D photo booth idea with valentine's day, chocolate, sweetheart's face, love in making things. Awesome!
