MakerBot has partnered with Adafruit to offer a Limited Edition MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer with special Adafruit kits inside. The Limited MakerBot Adafruit Edition will come with an Adafruit MakerBot build plate and three of Adafruit's most popular kits:
TIMESQUARE DIY Watch Kit - Red Display Matrix ($29.95): a stylish good looking DIY watch. Its got a 8x8 bit matrix display and a repurposed silicone watch band. You can print your own Timesquare Watch Body.
MintyBoost Kit - V3.0 ($19.50): The world's first and only open-source hardware charger for your iPod/iPhone/GPS/etc. You can print your own Rolling MintyBoost Enclosure V2.
Raspberry Pi Model B 512MB RAM ($39.95): The Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of stimulating the teaching of basic computer science in schools. The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It's a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. The design is based around a Broadcom BCM2835 SoC, which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU, and 128 or 256 Megabytes of RAM. The design does not include a built-in hard disk or solid-state drive, instead relying on an SD card for booting and long-term storage. This board is intended to run Linux kernel based operating systems. You can print your own Pi Command Center.
The Limited MakerBot Adafruit Edition will be available beginning today, March 14, 2013, online at Adafruit.com and the MakerBot Store in New York City will offer the three Adafruit kits as companion accessories.
These three kits all require custom items to hold the electronics. "You can design and 3D print your own cool watch band or watch face holder for the Timesquare Watch; 3D print a cool case for the MintyBoost phone charger; and 3D print a really fun and personalized holder for the Raspberry Pi single-board computer," noted Bre Pettis, Makerbot CEO.
The price for the special Limited Edition Adafruit MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer will be $2,295.00. (The Makerbot Replicator 2 by itself would cost $2,199.)

This company is a joke. They can't even supply the orders they have nor can you buy a spare Rep2 build platform. Requests to purchase a spare or upgrade a defective platform go unanswered. Why don't they actually focus on building a product and getting it out the door instead of being 'cool' in Austin, Texas?
