Arian Croft of IllGottenGames is a huge fan of Cyvasse, a chess-like game featured in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels (Game of Thrones). Working with his friend Nate Stephens, Croft has created a 3D-printable version of Cyvasse to make it playable in real world.
Cyvasse involves two players, featuring ten types of "unit" (King, Dragon, Elephant, Trebuchet, Catapult, Heavy Horse, Light Horse, Crossbowman, Spearman and Rabble) with different powers, attributes and capture conditions. In addition, the board includes Two terrain pieces, "Mountain" and "Fortress", allowing for a different battlefield terrain.
It begins with each player arranges their half of the board secretly, placing pieces and tiles under cover of a large dividing screen. Then each player in his turn moves pieces across a board of alternating colored squares.
The aim of the game is to capture an opposing player's King.
Croft uses most of Martin's rules mentioned in the books - "I adapted the game to include everything mentioned in the book into a rules set I found believable for a game made during the emulated time period, while also keeping the games in mind that Martin has mentioned as inspiration during interviews." writes Croft.

Croft 3D printed his set in black ABS and painted the pieces with acrylic model paints and the board in a checker-pattern. If you have an access to a 3D printer, you can download the game and rules PDF here on Thingiverse and print out two sets of pieces, maybe one in black ABS and one in white.

I Wonder, did you do any playtesting of this? The crossbowmen and the catapult seems at odds with the rest of the rules. It is also unclear from the rules which of the castles adjoining squares are the spawning squares.
