In the video below, David Braam, developer of the Cura open source software for Ultimaker is interviewed by Andrew Mazzotta. Cura is an excellent project which aims to be a single solution for personal 3D printing with RepRap based machines. It is tuned toward the Ultimaker, but can be used on any RepRap based design. Cura can slice the model to G-Code much faster than most other programs. Cura helps you to setup an Ultimaker, shows your 3D model, and its latest version provides you a handy set of tools to visualize and edit your printable object.

It was a pleasure to meet David at Ultimaker's headquarters and chat on developments. Some chats landed on current topics of quicker slicing, dynamic infill settings, new application ideas like "Easy Print" functions and printer error analysis, and especially his developments coming soon for enhanced GUI interactions. (David is a hobbyist game developer which separates him from many of the other 3D model slicing/printing interface developers in the GUI department.)
