Matthias tipped us that a gadget supplier "Pearl" in Germany is selling a new 3D printer from "3D FreeSculpt" for 800 Euros (USD1,028). It is promoted as "the first ready-to-use 3D printer at an affordable price - not a kit!" It features enclosed design, LCD display, enclosed design and interchangeable platform.

FreeSculpt 3D printers include EX1-Basic, and two other models with bundled software.

Specifications:

  • Build envelope: 225 x 145 x 150 mm
  • Print Speed: 80-120 mm / s
  • Layer thickness: 0.15-0.4 mm
  • Nozzle diameter: 0.4 mm
  • Packing size: 59 x 53 x 48 cm
  • Weight: 13 kg
  • Software for Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS X
  • Ports: SD card, USB

The Freesculpt site is only in German and we don't know from which country the 3D printer is originally made. But it looks similar as a Chinese brand "Myriwell" from Riwell Enterprises. Riwell was established in 1997 and has its own molding factory. Myriwell was announced in the end of April with a promotion price of RMB2800. Currently its selling price is RMB3,400 (EUR432, USD554), not including tax and shipping. The printer will be officially launched at the end of July.

If you download the manual from the pearl website you see myriwell in the software title bar on page 15. So yes it is...

Amazon is also selling the same looking model as a Dsword 3D Printer TR-1. $1250 though ... Anyone have experience with these printers?

It does have the distinct styling of a storage tub. Why would anyone frost the front face of a 3D printer? And yes, some of the photos do look like renderings or composited from renderings.

looks like a cheap storage bin.

they have these on amazon and eBay too under a different name. I have yet to see a physical one. All the "photos" are 3d renders.
