Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) launched its new advertising campaign, dubbed "Game Changers," in May, 2013. This largest advertising campaign for Mazda in the last 13 years showcases various historical figures who have developed a new way to excel at their respective disciplines. Through courage, creativity and conviction, these individuals have defied convention and changed the "game" in which they "played'.

Bre Pettis, MakerBot's CEO is featured in a recent Mazda #GameChanger campaign. "Bre Pettis started with a simple idea: empower others with creative ideas. As founder and CEO of MakerBot, Pettis designs desktop 3D printers that allow inspired individuals take on manufacturing giants and turn their visions into tangible realities." notes Mazda.

"The Game Changers campaign will be a different approach to creative advertising from Mazda. Telling the story of Mazda's past and the historical things they have done, the Game Changers campaign uses similar ground-breaking stories from individuals in history who did things differently, which resulted in in them rising above their competition," said Harvey Marco, creative director, Garage Team Mazda.

Conviction. Creativity. Courage. This is the Bre Pettis way. And the Mazda way.

I'm so sick of the media dumba$$es looking at Bre as the 3D printing posterboy. Really, there are lots of other folks out there that deserve some recognition. @wkw3: This is just like Elon Musk getting painted as genius creator @ Tesla. Yet, his co founding partner (whom he ousted) and him, used 3rd party tech to start Tesla.. but we get to see him in an Iron Man movie.. ugh....

@wkw3 Agreed. For the "dumb tech" crowd this ad might help, but for anyone in the know this will be a major turn off!

Conviction: Here is the post where Bre Pettis officially turned away from his open-source "convictions" thanks to venture capital money. http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2012/09/20/fixing-misinformation-with-information/ Creativity: Is pretending Bre Pettis founded Makerbot alone and didn't force out one of the original core people from the Reprap project on which Makerbot is based, Zack Smith. http://josefprusa.cz/open-hardware-meaning/ Courage: Would have been not closing down your designs because of fears of cheap Chinese clones. He went from "Game Changer" to "Game Player" as fast as possible.

I wonder how Ford feels about their engine block being featured in a Mazda ad?
