In June Microsoft announced it is adding in native 3D printer support to Windows 8.1. That means you can 3D print an item directly from third-party applications by click "print". Meanwhile Microsoft also announced that it plans to sell MakerBot Replicator 2 in its stores.

On Wednesday Microsoft and Makerbot announced that MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printers would be on sale at select Microsoft retail stores on the West Coast. On top of the original stores in San Francisco, Seattle and Palo Alto, the "MakerBot Experience" in-store demonstration will be added to 15 additional Microsoft Stores across the country.

"We've seen tremendous interest and enthusiasm at the three initial 'MakerBot Experience' stores," said Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot in a press release. "Rolling the program out to 15 additional Microsoft Stores supercharges our mission to bring 3D printing to more people."

Makerbot Replicator 2 is MakerBot's fourth generation 3D printer and are currently on sale for $2,549 on Microsoft's online store. The price includes Makercare, a service plan for your MakerBot Replicator 2.

"3D printing is a significant technological innovation, and we want all our customers to experience it first-hand, to learn how they can use and benefit from it in their own lives," said David McAughan, chief operating officer for Microsoft retail stores.
