Dutch start-up Additive Industries has the ambition to bring industrial additive manufacturing/3D printing for selected high tech markets from lab to fab. Next Month the first 3D printing factory in the Netherlands will open in Eindhoven.
Two big 3D printers which are capable of printing metal objects will be installed in a former Philips building. This production, according to the startup, is a good alternative for milling and casting of metal objects, especially for a small scale.
Additive Industries is a startup invested by eight companies with a total investment of 1.8 million euro. Initially it will provide 3D printing services for Philips Healthcare en Chip machinery maker ASML. The investors said they would prefer getting these parts produced themselves instead of ordering them from Germany and Belgium.
Besides equipment, Additive Industries will offer a shared platform and infrastructure for buyers, designers & engineers and subcontractors to support the typical AM supply chain. This will include an internet based design and analysis toolkit and a linkage between all AM equipment to create one virtual factory.
3D printing factory is scheduled to open on Oct.24.

Shapeways is a facilitator with a home base in Eindhoven - not a factory. You might like to think they print it all there, but that is simply not the case.
