You may remember the 3Doodler, which was one of the most successful projects on Kickstarter. Nearly 30,000 backers helped them raise over $2.3 million. Here comes 3Dsimo. David Paskevic from Prague, Czech Republic and his team have launched their 3Dsimo, a multimaterial 3D drawing pen on indiegogo.

The 3Dsimo has some similar offering as 3Doodler, but it provides users the possibility to choose print options. Users can choose temperature and velocity, and 3Dsimo can handle various materials as ABS, PLA, PVA (water-soluble material), and nylon at different temperatures. Other options include backlight, , preheating and memory for storing settings. These parameters are used to determine the appropriate method of drawing.

How it works?

Same as 3Doodler, 3Dsimo is simple to use just like a pen. Everyone who has ever drawn with pen will not have any problem using 3Dsimo. After plugging it in, they can set the desired speed and temperature according to the material.

3Dsimo is based on the principle of FDM technology that plastic material is extruded through the hot end. It can used for repairing of plastic devices, bonding and assembling models of 3D printers, creating jewelry or simply for the joy of 3D modeling.

Like many startups 3Dsimo launches the project on crowdfunding platform to raise money. 3Dsimo plans to raise $20,000 for the production of metal injection molding forms and obtaining the CE marking.

The 3Dsimo weights 180gr and its length is 170 mm. 3Dsimo full set includes 3Dsimo pen, docking station, 30 meters of a printing material ABS also as PLA and a power supply unit. The first 100 funders can get 3Dsimo for $75. Check out 3Dsimo indiegogo campaign here.

Hello all friends of 3Dsimo. The campaign has been founded again for 30 days on this address: http://igg.me/at/3dsimoo/x/3721646 due to few requests from customers to restore the campaign. We are still working hard on the project and yet on Friday we will make public a sketch of final design of 3Dsimo that will be ergonomic and aesthetic (on the design is working a budding designer). Thank you for supporting our project.

This wonderful device was featured in the latest episode of Fused News Weekly: 3D printing world and beyond. You can check it out here: http://youtu.be/I5i1AsOvClQ . Just a media summary of what this pen is like and what it can do.
