The first 3D printing shop in Mexico recently opened its door in Hermosillo, Sonora. Founded by Carolina Munguía, her husband César Rodríguez and her brother Javier Munguía, the 3d printing shop, 'Ideaz 3D' has now five desktop 3D printers, including Cube from 3D Systems, Makerbot Replicator 2 & 2X, Ultimaker 1 & 2. You can also find Kinect scanner and the newly launched Makerbot Digitizer 3D scanner in the store.
Customers can design their own smartphone case and get it printed at Ideaz 3D, or create unique items, such as bracelets, rings, earrings, lamps, toys, robotic prototypes for their home or office. With the 3D scanner Ideaz 3D can replicate small objects valuable to you and print them out in different color, size and material. For your special event the Ideaz 3D team provides the service to scan your family member or friends.
The store also includes a 3D photo booth. Get on a turntable, hold position for a while. In a few minutes, a scan is made and displayed on a screen. You can then choose the color, material and size of your sculpture. The 3D data can then be used to print out a 3D replica of yourself.
Ideaz 3D is the first company in Mexico, and second in Latin America dedicated to the 3D printing service, training and demonstration of 3D printing. "It was a mixture of ideas from three partners. My husband is a technology lover, my brother works with this technology and I like all the creative stuff." said Carolina Munguia. The team came up with this idea in December last year. And on November 22nd this year the idea is turned into a business.

The prices of printing depend on how long it takes to print the stuff. Ideaz 3D charges approx. 95 pesos ($7) plus tax per hour. "It would be great contribution to introduce 3D printing technology into education. Just image how much children could learn from the technology and all the possibilities." says Carolina Munguía.
