Gardening has come a long way in the last few decades and now a team of students want to upgrade it to a new level. Students at the University of Maribor in Slovenia developed an innovative 3D printer that can print objects "out of living grass".

'Tiskaj ZELENO', which means Print GREEN, combines art, nature and technology in one device. Developed by Maja Petek, Tina Zidanšek, Urška Skaza, Danica Rženičnik and Simon Tržan, as well as assistant professor Dušan Zidar, Print GREEN prints using a mixture of soil, water and grass seeds. The results are beautiful 3D-printed grass designs that are capable of sprouting and turning green over time.

You can watch a video of the Print Green in action below.
