Plotclock is a simple robot that uses a marker to write the time on a small whiteboard. While you could always just check your own watch, Plotclock is much more compelling. The clock writes the time with a dry wipe pen, and when the time changes, the clock erases the previous time and writes the current one.

To create such a robot you need a laser cutter or 3D printer, one Arduino uno single-board microcontroller, three small servos, M3 nuts, bolts and thread tap. One servo is for lifting the pen while the other two is for controlling the two arms.

Created by Johaness the Plotclock is also open source so you can make your own by downloading 3D printing files and instructions here on Thingiverse. And the Arduino sketch can be found here on GitHub.

You can also find a small gallery here showing what other makers have attempted to make their own version. And some of them have 'remixed' and modified the design, check them out here on Thingiverse.
