The first FabCafé in Barcelona opened on Thursday, allowing customers to print out their design on a 3D printer, while enjoying a coffee.
Customers can bring a USB stick containing their 3D designs to the cafe and give it to a FabCafe employee, who can help them with their queries and assist them in using the in-store 3D printers and other machines.
Cecilia Tham, FabCafe director and founder, says, "The idea is to start associating these digital fabrication tools - laser cutter, 3D printers, these types of tools with an everyday environment, such as a coffee shop."
FabCafe is part Coffee Shop, part Digital Fabrication Lab. This is the only place in Barcelona (or the whole entire Iberian Peninsula) where you can laser-cut or 3D print, while you sip your Latte.
With a FabCafe in Tokyo and another one in Taipei, Barcelona is the third city in the FabCafe network to offer this hybrid service of hospitality and technology.
