From April 3 to May 28, Paris department store Le BHV Marais will be transformed into a contemporary factory where customers can discover 3D printing on five floors of the store and become creators themselves in a series of 3D printing workshops.

MakerBot Replicator 3D Printers will be featured on every floor 3D printing everything from housewares to fashion, the store window on the Rue de Rivoli will showcase MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printers 3D printing all day. For visitors to the store, 3D printing workshops will be offered each day.

"This is the first time such a large installation of 3D printers has been placed in a department store and also the first time 3D printing workshops have been offered on a such a long-term and public scale. It is going to be wonderful to see what is 3D printed." said Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot.

MakerBot's French reseller le FabShop will be offering 15 do-it-yourself workshops focusing on the design and printing of 3D files. Workshop registration and fees vary from 80 to 120 euros for four-hour workshops.

"With more than 30,000 visitors expected per day, and almost a million visitors over the course of the five weeks, La Fabrique du BHV Marais will be France's largest 3D printing exhibition to date." noted Bertier Luyt, founder and president of le FabShop.

MakerBot has also 3D printed several miniature Paris landmarks as souvenirs for visitors to purchase. These souvenirs include the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Pyramid, Arc de Triomphe and Basilique du Sacre-Coeur in Montmartre. Each 3D printed souvenir will be 5 €. A Bird mobile will also be available for 90 €.

MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printers and the MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner will also be available on-site for purchase during and after the duration of the event.
