May 2, 2014

Threeding, 3D printing marketplace and file sharing website, announced a redesign of Threeding.com on May 1st with an entirely new look, structure and user-friendly navigation.

Threeding offers a mixture of free and paid designs online. Anyone can sign up to upload and share their 3D models. The platform offers its customers an extensive variety of items to choose from, ranging from Antique and historical items, architecture, art, electronics through fashion, home and office item, toy, and medical models.

Among the many improvements, you will see that the whole site is much easier to navigate. You can discover the newest, currently browsed, featured items on the homepage. You can search for products and then sort by free, paid, best rated, prices, file type, author, file format etc. and see exactly what you want.

To guarantee a experience, the new version is hosted by Amazon Web Services. "We chose Amazon since it is a really scalable solution – millions of downloads can be done simultaneously without affecting the quality of the service. This step aims to making our website much more reliable and quickly accessible from every place on the planet." notes Threeding.

Threeding offers a sharing platform and charges a commission on a sold item. Together with the launch of redesigned site, Threeding comes up with a new commission system. As of May 1st, 2014, the platform takes a 8.5% commission fee (instead of original 40%), starting from $0.45 for each sale that take place. "This is truly one of the lowest (if not the lowest) fee charged by repositories for 3D printing files. Our aim is to attract more designers to sell their art via Threeding and thus, to achieve the largest portfolio of 3D printing models." said Threeding co-founder Tony Kitipov.

Coming soon: Apps for Apple iOS and Android

Threeding plans to launch Apps for Apple iOS and Android, and mobile version. The applications are already in beta testing will launch soon. Furthermore, the team is working on 3D models visualization directly on web for online checking the printability of your 3D designs.
