Korean based Desktop 3D printer manufacturer Rokit announced today that it has donated 5 units of 3dison plus 3D printer to universities, designers and individuals supported by "Edison Creativity Development Fund".

U$10 from every sale of 3dison 3D printer in 2013 was collected in the name of the customers who purchased the printer. The fund raised from the purchase has been used to support Korean youngsters and enhance the development of their creativity.

Rokit said it has received numerous background stories and request from organizations and individuals who want to have a 3D printer. After going through strict evaluation, ultimately 5 individual/organization were selected, they are:

  • A self-made automobile club at Hoseo University
  • A professor from media artist community who uses 3D printer to make wearable products
  • Automobile research group at S university
  • A person who wants to develop sociability and creativity of his brother who suffers with depression. He plans to donate the printer to the local libary so other people can also experience with a 3D printer.
  • A student majoring in product design and has donated his design to Kkottongnae (flower village-Welfare facility) in Eumsung County, Korea

The goal of the Edison Creativity Development Fund is to help more people realize their creative idea with new technology. "We are not a big company but we are trying to achieve greater mission and social vision." Rokit says.

"We are going to support the groundbreaking revolution through "EDISON+" and "Easyskan" by cutting the seven steps of manufacturing, which are planning, prototyping, tooling, producing, distributing, selling, and enable customers to make products right away."
