Frustrated with failed prints and the limitation of current resin selection on the market, MadeSolid, a YC-backed 3D printing materials startup out of Emeryville, CA, is doing R&D to create more variety of resins with unique properties for your 3D printer.
On Tuesday, MadeSolid announced the development of its Tough Resin. "This new 3D printable material is designed to withstand the structural demands of functional prototyping." writes MadeSolid. "We have created a resin which has greatly increased tensile, flexural, and impact strength."
The formula stems from the frustration of SLA prints that often break too easily, and most of these prints are not durable and can not be used as functional parts. MadeSolid's Tough Resin is designed for prints that need a boost in strength and durability. MadeSolid hopes the new Tough Resin formula will enable users to print more functional 3d objects.
The resin can be used to make gadgets, prototyping wearables, parts that need to take some stress.
The MadeSolid's Tough Resin is available in orange and yellow and is compatible with quite a few existing SLA/DLP printers, including the Form1+ and B9 Creator. Presales start now and shipment expect to begin at the end of August. Pre-order cost is 1L for $119.00.
