3D printer company Stratasys Inc has inaugurated its new plant in the southern Israeli city of Kiryat Gat yesterday. According to the company, the plant is the most advanced in the world for the manufacture of 3D printers.
The inauguration was attended by Israel's Minister of Finance, Mr. Yair Lapid. Mr. Lapid was also invited to tour the production floor to learn about 3D printing and he was very impressed by the manufacturing capabilities of Stratasys 3D printers.
The new building in Kiryat Gat is an expansion of Stratasys' resin consumables facility that was established in 2009. According to Stratasys, the site is the major manufacturing and assembly site for the production of 3D printers based on PolyJet technology. The facility also incorporates production lines for PolyJet resin consumables and Stratasys operations, purchasing and logistics divisions.

Stratasys CEO David Reis said that the new plant will hire hundreds of new employees, mainly from southern Israel and the inland coastal region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Israel's Minister of Finance, Mr. Lapid, complemented Stratasys' technology and said that Stratasys provides a boost to the local economy and employment: "If you want to understand how to create an economy, look here. Stratasys has built a facility with the latest 3D printing technology, contributing to the circle of employment. Kiryat Gat forms the microcosm of our economic activities creating the engine of growth. Many of the people working in the facility are from the area. This creates a cycle. Jobs generate growth which in turn, increase the standard of living. A factory, like the one inaugurated here today, which exports more than 99% of its products, is a major engine of growth for this region."
