If you have a 3D printer at home, what would you print? In January Makerbot launched a digital store where people can buy designs made by in-house studio of designers. Since May, MakerBot has been partnered with Sesame Street to bring 3D printable Sesame Street characters to the MakerBot Digital Store.
Makerbot announced yesterday a new line of 3D printable Sesame Street characters are available on the MakerBot Digital Store and in MakerBot Retail Stores in Boston, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut.
Fan can now purchase, download and 3D print five of Sesame Street's most iconic and beloved characters, Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. Each of the models will be accompanied by a winter accessory celebrating the upcoming holidays. Best friends Bert and Ernie will have gifts for each other; Big Bird will accessorize with a holiday wreath; Elmo will sport Santa hat; and Oscar the Grouch will feature a holiday-themed sign on his trashcan expressing his usual grumbly mood.
"It's been wonderful working with Sesame Street to bring their characters to life through 3D printing, through the collaboration between Sesame Street and the MakerBot Design team. We are thrilled to announce the release of their most popular and cherished characters, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Elmo and Oscar the Grouch," said Jenny Lawton, CEO of MakerBot.
The MakerBot Digital Store Sesame Street Classics Collection will join previously released 3D printable Sesame Street characters (Series 1 & 2) such as Mr. Snuffleupagus, Cookie Monster, Grover, Frazzle, Honker, Guy Smiley, Two-Headed Monster and Yip-Yip on the Digital Store. Models start at $1.99 per digital model, or all five for $7.99, and are available at Makerbot's website here.

its just stating facts. they're a closed and hostile system in an otherwise open community. closed is fine but being actively hostile has got them a bad rep

I don't see a point in advertising for MB given their models only work on their machines.
