Solidscape, leading manufacturer of high precision 3D wax printers for the jewelry industry, has just announced the winners of the fourth annual Baselworld Design Competition.

Design entries were judged based on successful wax modeling printed by a Solidscape 3D printer, best design (artistry and style), as well as the best use of 3D technology (CAD / 3D printing).

Capturing the Platinum Award for jewelry for the third year in a row was the OG-Art Studio team from Bialystok, Poland. Their Dragon Pendant features complex geometry and incredible detail requiring the highest precision in 3D printing and casting excellence.

The Gold Award was awarded is a Chrysanthemum-inspired brooch created by Mr. Hiroaki Watanabe of Japan. "The variety and sizes of Chrysanthemums symbolically represents a long and peaceful life." notes Solidscape. "The delicate flower petals ironically demand the most extreme precision in 3D printing."

Tied for the Silver Award for jewelry was the Firebird Pendant by Sri Lanka's W.A Chamal S Jayaratna and the whimsical Mermaid ring from the House of Wittelsbach in the United States. "Their exquisite Nouveau-inspired mermaid combines sculptural fluidity with ornately details jewelry." comments Solidscape.

Fine Art is a new award category for 2015. The unique entrants represent free from expression of non-jewelry designs executed in a manner similar to jewelry. The Platinum Award was awarded to the intricately-detailed Violin figurine from German Oliver Borgardts of Higher Lyrics Art. "His dancing violinist hits the high notes in detailed design, capturing the best of human expression."

The Gold Award for fine art went to "Cassoulet with Phoenix" designed by Mr. Hiroaki Watanabe of Japan. "His incense box is designed to create a peaceful atmosphere with comfortable scents while the phoenix is a symbol of everlasting peace and long life," Solidscape explains.

Finally, the Silver Award for fine art was awarded for a finely detailed Ballerina figurine from Meenakshi Rawa of India. Her delicate interpretation of the tiny dancer could only be realized by the combination of brilliant CAD design and high precision 3D printer.
