Following their R&D partnership agreement with industrial 3D printer manufacturer Hunan Farsoon, Prodways today announced that it is launching a new range of industrial SLS 3D printers known as the ProMaker P series, as well as a complimentary range of premium PA12 powders. These ‘Prodways powered by Farsoon’ 3D printers mark the company’s first range dedicated to the most widespread plastics used in 3D printing, and will be unveiled at the upcoming FormNext trade show taking place in Frankfurt from November 17-20.

Just last September, when Prodways (a subsidiary of Groupe Gorgé) announced its partnership with Chinese company Hunan Farsoon Tech Ltd, it did so with the explicit goal of competing with existing market leaders and becoming the world’s largest company offering a multi-technological range. At that time, they announced that their range of ‘Prodways powered by Farsoon’ SLS 3D printers would be marketed in the coming months, and they have certainly come through on that promise.

The ProMaker P series will be priced at between €200,000 and €450,000 and is available in two families: the ProMaker P2000 series, and ProMaker P4000 series.

The ProMaker P2000 series of 3D printers offers top industrial performance in a compact format, with a build volume of 250 x 250 x 320 mm. The series includes the SD and HT (high-temperature) models, the latter of which enables printing with high-performance materials at temperatures of up to 220°C, opening up the possibility of new industrial applications.

As for the ProMaker P4000 series, it provides exclusive industrial production capacity with wide platforms--a 400 x 400 x 450 mm build platform--and high productivity to print high-precision parts. The line includes SD model (30W laser power), the HS model (60W laser power) and finally the P4000 X, which ooffers the fastest scanning speed and highest build rates to meet industrial needs with 100W laser power. Prodways will be showing off one of its ProMaker P4000 series at their FormNext booth next week.

In addition to the ProMaker P series of industrial 3D printers, the company is launching its first range of Polyamide 12 (PA12) premium powders for laser sintering, developed in partnership with Farsoon. The high-performance powder range comes in four versions:

  • PA12–S 1300 – PA12 type nylon powder ideal for printing complex parts, in particular those used in the aerospace and automotive industries
  • PA12-GF 2500 – PA12 type powder, fiberglass-reinforced for parts requiring more rigidity and better resistance to high temperatures
  • PA12-CF 6500 – PA12 type powder, carbon-reinforced for greater resistance
  • PA12-MF 6150 – PA12 type powder, reinforced with mineral fibers for smooth surfaces and high resistance to heat distortion

According to the company, both families within the ‘Prodways powered by Farsoon’ offer an alternative to the current offers on the market due to their high thermal stability, which offers optimized mechanical property, as well as a fully digital, ultra-fast and highly accurate laser scanning system.

Created in 2009, Farsoon is the third-largest manufacturer of industrial 3D printing machines using SLS on plastics. This partnership brings together the combined expertise of Dr. Xu Xiao Shu, founder of Farsoon with over 20 years of experience in SLS printing, and Dr. André-Luc Allanic, co-founder of Prodways and inventor of the MOVINGLight Technology.

The ProMaker P range enables Prodways to cover the majority of plastic industrial applications for 3D printing, and, staying true to their September promises, they will be following up with metal machines in 2016. That means we will have even more to look forward to from Prodways and Farsoon in the near future, and could know very soon whether their goal to become the world’s largest company offering a multi-technological range will come true.
