In 3D printing, as in life, bigger doesn’t always mean better. But Colorado-based 3D printing startup Titan Robotics hasn’t let that get in the way of their design philosophy. Not too long ago, we informed you of their large-format Atlas 3D printer. Named after the mighty and strong Greek god himself, the Atlas offered a build volume of 30 x 30 x 45” (762 x 762 x 1143mm) and was designed “to last a lifetime.” After more than a year of testing and improvements, Titan Robotics is now back with their latest innovation in large format 3D printing: the Atlas 2.0. Yes, it’s bigger, but there’s a lot more to it than just that.

The 3-axis industrial Atlas 2.0 now offers the tremendous build space of 36 x 36 x 48” (915 x 915 x 1220mm), allowing users to 3D print some pretty hefty objects in a single print session. To back up the claim of being a “truly bombproof” large format 3D printer, the machine itself is made of a precision machined steel frame made from quality CNC milled components, and the 2.0 model includes the option to add dual extruders for increased functionality.

However, one of the most noteworthy of the new features is the optional heated steel enclosure for ABS 3D printing, which can attain constant temperatures of up to 85°C and create ABS prints with zero flaws. According to Titan, this was the most requested feature from their existing industrial consumer-base.

“Our customers need these machines for industrial production capabilities with ABS, and we provided a real solution to creating large format ABS parts without warping at any height,” said Clay Guillory, CEO and Founder of Titan Robotics. “Government contractors, manufacturing shops, universities and 3D print shops are coming to us because they are looking for a machine that is tried and tested and will print 200+ hour print jobs consistently.”

Guillory himself is a mechanical engineer, who started Titan Robotics with the goal of pushing the envelope of the large format 3D printing industry and creating machines that perform “all day, every day.” A key aspect of the company philosophy then is to respond directly to customer feedback, ensuring that anything added to the 3D printer is something customers actually want and need. Thus, while Titan has strived to create a machine that can please a wide-range of needs, each Atlas 3D printer can be adapted to specific customer requirements. In order to personalize the brand and make sure every customer is personally taken care of, Titan also offers unlimited free, 24/7 customer phone service to provide support and troubleshooting should the need arise.

“From below zero Colorado temperatures to heated enclosures that top out at 85 degrees C, Titan Robotics machines have been undergoing constant usage in a variety of industries and environments,” said the company. We’ll see if this commitment to rigorous testing and customer satisfaction pays off, as Titan Robotics will be making its debut alongside the new Atlas 2.0 3D printer at the highly anticipated Consumer Electronics Show 2016 taking place in Las Vegas from January 6-9. The retail price for the Atlas 2.0 is $24,000.
