3D printing firm Robo 3D has showcased a range of new products at CES 2016 in Las Vegas. These include the sub-$2000 ROBO 3D R2 consumer-level 3D printer and the sub-$1000 ROBO 3D R2 Mini entry-level 3D printer.

CES 2016, which opened today and continues until January 9, has already seen a number of 3D printer manufacturers showcasing their new products to an awe-inspired public. ROBO 3D, a company which made headlines last year for its in-store 3D printing kiosks and other ventures, brought two new 3D printers to its stand at the Sands Expo.

The most significant product brought to the table by ROBO 3D is its new ROBO 3D R2 3D printer, a high-end consumer level printer which will retail for under $2000. Aimed “serious home hobbyists or small to medium business applications”, the R2 provides 1,000 cubic inches of build space, 300mm per second print speeds and dual-material extrusion. The R2 can print in PLA and ABS, as well as filament infused with wood, carbon and bronze. It is also compatible with a set of add-ons for extruding ceramics and food decorations and for laser engraving.

Taking its place next to the R2 is the ROBO 3D R2 Mini, a smaller, less expensive alternative to the R2. Retailing for under $1000, the R2 Mini is aimed at entry-level consumers creating simpler, smaller projects. The 10.5 cubic inch printer provides full portability, whilst offering a respectable build size of 125 cubic inches. It too is capable of 300mm per second print speeds, and is compatible with a range of filaments. A handy feature of the R2 Mini is its WiFi and mobile connectivity, allowing users to manage 3D prints from a smartphone.

ROBO 3D has also extended this wireless connectivity feature to its other 3D printers, by creating the ROBO-Mobile, a WiFi/Mobile connector enhancement for converting existing ROBO 3D printers into wireless models. This gadget is being exhibited at CES alongside unusual products including the ROBO 3D range of scented of scented 3D printing filaments, available in apple, blueberry, grape and strawberry flavor.

During CES, ROBO 3D has also announced plan to include an e-NABLE prosthetic limb 3D print kit with every ROBO 3D printer purchase to encourage people to support the e-NABLE community and allow individuals to immediately utilize their new 3D printer tool to give back.

"ROBO 3D democratizes consumer 3D printing,” said Dan Koziol, CEO of ROBO 3D. “We make accessible hundreds of open source materials available on the market together with a large print build and the best speed in its class. We are passionate about the things you will create next.”
