Italy is steadily building a reputation as an excellent 3D printing nation, with the number of interesting Italian startups and developers growing all the time. But of all the small-to-medium sized 3D printer developers in the Italian community, few have been as promising as Sharebot – who have released an excellent and diverse range of 3D printers and filaments over the past few years. As the company just revealed, the latest addition to their family – the very tall A3 format Sharebot Q 3D printer, is about to be unveiled at the MECSPE Fair in Parma, Italy on March 17.
The MECSPE fair is, of course, one of the most significant Italian conventions on innovative technologies and manufacturing and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The 2016 edition will kick off on Thursday 17 March, and continue on to Saturday the 19th. A logical location for Sharebot to unveil the latest addition to their 3D printing arsenal. Sharebot is known for their user-friendly 3D printers that are designed for small and medium-sized businesses. Currently, the company sells their products through more than 60 resellers in more than 10 European countries, and released their state of the art Voyager DLP 3D Printer just last May.
Like that DLP predecessor, the Sharebot Q is fully intended for professional users, but then for users who want both high quality and large format 3D printing. “It is perfect for professionals and also for companies that work in mechanic, architecture and design sectors,” its developers say of the upcoming large format 3D printer.
While the exact stats will doubtlessly follow at the MECSPE Fair, Sharebot was more than willing to give a sneak peek at the Sharebot Q – and it certainly sounds like a good quality option for professional users. Featuring what they call an A3 format (which in paper is 297 × 420 mm), it’s essentially a top of the line FDM 3D printer with all the features you can expect. It reportedly includes all the technical improvements (both in terms of hardware and software) the company just implemented on the Sharebot 42, another FDM 3D printer that has just been released.
First of all, it features auto calibration options, which allows the user to keep the plate always at right angles, even after some prints, they say. Secondly, thanks to the introduction of a magnetic heated plate (instead of a glass plate), removing parts should be easier than ever before. “It is also the first Sharebot 3d printer realized with a structure partially in aluminum and it is equipped with an useful case where you can arrange the filaments,” they add.
As you would expect from a professional 3D printer, it is also compatible with all common and uncommon FDM filaments, including TPU – and an even hold 2 kg spools. But, as is necessary in any office environment, it is also easy to use. “The printing process is very easy thanks to a double dragging system with two engines, one on the extruder and one close to the spool. The upgrading engines provides a faster printing process and a high quality and precision of the final object which is able to satisfy all the professional requests,” they say of their latest creation. “Sharebot Q is a perfect tool dedicated to desktop engineering, it has a five full colors touch-screen and you can manage all the printing operations in stand-alone modality.”
What’s more, the machine is easily integrated into a professional office environment as it can connect to all internet-enabled devices – making it possible to review progress on the integrated webcam through home or office networks. The same system allows for print queue control, pausing and interruptions. Finally, the Sharebot Q even features a double USB system: one for reading files while the other can be used for future hardware extensions and kits.
In short, it definitely has the features a professional user seeks in an FDM 3D printer, and comes with a build platform to match them. A must-see at the MECSPE fair, where more exact specifications will also doubtlessly be released.
