Korean 3D printer manufacturer HyVision has unveiled two new 3D printer models: the Cubicon Single Plus, a Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) industrial grade machine; and the Cubicon Lux, the company’s first Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printer. Overseas shipping on both will begin in Q3 2016.

While Korea is not yet a major hotbed for 3D printing activity, some of its more ambitious companies are showing a great of promise. In 2014, the Korean government invested $2.3 million in 3D printing centers across the country in order to encourage small and medium sized business to adopt the new technology. Most of the 3D printers purchased for that scheme were imported, but companies like Carima and HyVision are now producing high quality 3D printers aimed at both the domestic and international 3D printing markets.

Until today, HyVision manufactured two models of 3D printer, the Cubicon Single and Cubicon Style, which we profiled back in December. The company has now added two further 3D printers to its repertoire: the Cubicon Single Plus and the Cubicon Lux, and is making a concerted effort to market these new models to the U.S. market.

The Cubicon Single Plus, an FFF 3D printer built for industrial applications, lists similar technical specs to the existing Cubicon single. Both the old and new models offer layer heights of 150 - 300 microns, both offer a build volume of 240 x 190 x 200 mm, and both are the same size and weight. There are, however, important improvements and upgrades to be found in the Single Plus, such as a faster print speed of 500 mm/s compared to the Single’s 300 mm/s, as well as WiFi printing and a larger, touchscreen display which replaces the Single’s jog dial and button controls.

The Cubicon Single Plus 3D printer retains the Auto Leveling Plus print bed feature for which the Single gained a solid reputation, as well as other HyVision hallmarks such as a replaceable extruder for easy repair and an Air Convection Flow Function to keep constant internal temperature. The Single Plus and Single are both compatible with ABS, PLA, and flexible filaments.

The second new machine to be unveiled by HyVision, the Cubicon Lux, sees the company heading in an altogether new direction. The Lux, HyVision’s first ever DLP 3D printer, is a compact machine suitable for desktop use, and one which offers incredibly fine 3D printing resolutions. Boasting a Z-axis resolution of 20 - 100 microns and a build volume of 100 x 75 x 145 mm, the Lux is built for 3D printing of an entirely different kind to that of the Single (Plus), allowing individual makers and business to craft smaller, perfectly formed, resin-based 3D prints.

All of HyVision’s Cubicon 3D printers come packaged with the company’s CubicreatorLP slicing software, offering compatibility with both .stl and .obj formats.

International shipping for the Cubicon Single Plus and Cubicon Lux 3D printers will begin in the third quarter of 2016.
