Polish 3D printer manufacturer ZMorph, known for their hybrid 3D printer and CNC machines, has recently announced the release of their brand new model, the ZMorph 2.0 SX Multitool 3D Printer, which combines 3D printing, CNC milling, and laser engraving technologies, along with a number of other features.
The ZMorph 2.0 SX Multitool 3D Printer, which is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping in May, is being marketed as the “most advanced, accessible and multifunctional fabricator designed and released by the company”, which is ideal for either the home or office environment.
The newly released 3D printer features a bunch of new features since the company’s last model, including a Closed Loop System, which is capable of precisely controlling the position of the motors and extruder head and can recalculate every tiny mistake that may occur during usage. According to the company, this new feature will ensure reliability for both the additive and subtractive manufacturing processes it is capable of. The hybrid 3D printer also features a brand new color LCD touchscreen on its side, which itself features a user-friendly interface connected to a free Voxelizer software.
Another difference with ZMorph’s older model is that they have ramped up the production quality of their 3D printing and CNC milling machine, stating that only non-critical parts of it are now made with plastic, and all the structurally essential and important parts have been made from “precisely machined and cut metal parts”. For safety purposes, the build and work area of the hybrid 3D printer has been fully enclosed, but remains easily accessible through front and rear covers which can be lifted off.
ZMorph’s interchangeable toolheads will also be integrated into the multitool 3D printer along with an increased level of modularity. More specifically, the ZMorph 2.0 SX will make backward compatibility for existing extruders possible, and feature upgrade paths and a new expansion slot on the X-Carriage for optimal upgradability. According to the company’s press release, “Several plug-and-use add-ons will be made available such as additional filament monitors and fans, advanced extruders and experimental toolheads.”
To make going between using the machine as a 3D printer, CNC milling machine, or laser engraver as simple as possible, the hybrid 3D printer’s designers have incorporated workable change latches which eliminate the need for lengthy re-calibration processes.
In terms of materials, the ZMorph 2.0 SX is capable of 3D printing with most standard materials (in one of two materials), including ABS, PLA, HIPS, Nylon, PVA, wood, metal, and ceramic filaments, and more. Of course, as the machine can also be used for CNC milling, it can be used with a number of different types of wood, as well as PCB and Plexiglass. If used as a laser cutter and engraver, the ZMorph 2.0 SX can cut plywood, EVA foil, PVC sticky foil, leather, and cardboard.
As mentioned, the ZMorph 2.0 SX Multitool 3D Printer is currently available for pre-order and will begin to ship to buyers within the next month. The innovative printer is retailing for $2690 and comes with a single 1.75mm plastic extruder and a CNC PRO milling toolhead.
