Innovative 3D printing company Carbon (formerly Carbon3D) has just announced that it has appointed a new board member to its Board of Directors. The newest member, Ellen J. Kullman, former Chair and CEO of American conglomerate DuPont, is expected to bring new innovation to the company, especially in the areas of market and supply chain development.

Kullman officially joined the Redwood City, California-based 3D printing company on April 14th, and her election marks the joining of the seventh member to Carbon’s Board of Directors. As Dr. Joseph DeSimone, CEO and Co-Founder of Carbon says, “Ellen brings unparalleled experience in market and supply chain development, having led DuPont for over six years, and will bring incredible value to our team. Her commitment to innovation in science and engineering, and excellence as a business leader make her a natural fit for our Board of Directors.”

Kullman, who has appeared on Fortune’s list of Most Powerful Business Women for the past six years (she was #26 on the list in 2015), was DuPont’s first female CEO, where she served from 2009 to October 2015. She was elected Chair of the Board of the company in 2010 and served as Executive Vice President from 2006 to 2008 before becoming CEO. With DuPont, Kullman gained experience and considerable knowledge in the areas of national and international business markets, as well as in building effective business platforms.

In addition to her business occupations, Kullman has also sat on the Board of Directors of United Technologies, is a trustee of her alma mater Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, and oversees the latter’s School of Engineering. She is also a participating member of the Business Council and the National Academy of Engineering. Impressively, Kullman also served on the Board of Directors of the General Motors Corporation and served as chair of the U.S.-China Business Council.

Carbon has made an impressive name for itself over the past year with its innovative Carbon Liquid Interface Production technology (CLIP), and a number of high profile collaborations including with Johnson & Johnson, Ford Motor Company, and Kodak. Most recently, on April 1st, the company also released their M1 3D printer, the first commercial CLIP based 3D printer. With the appointment of Ellen J. Kullman to their Board of Directors, and the company’s continued growth, we can’t wait to see what they bring to the 3D printing industry next.
