German 3D printer manufacturer Concept Laser GmbH is rumoured to be exploring sale options with a number of buyers. Though still very under wraps, if a potential deal for Concept Laser’s sale is made, it could reportedly fetch more than 600 million euros (approximately $669 million).
Concept Laser, which was founded in 2000 by Kerstin and Frank Herzog, has established itself as a forward thinking and innovative company within the 3D printing world. With its patented LaserCUSING layer construction technology and a series of top-grade industrial 3D printers, the German additive manufacturing company has seen significant success since its founding especially in recent years. In fact, earlier this year the company announced that 2015 had been its strongest year in terms of sales levels and was the year they saw the largest number of new orders.
Since then, the company has continued its success as it also reported an astounding 88% increase in sales since the start of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015. With clients in the aerospace sector and medical industry interested in their state-of-the-art metal 3D printing systems, the future of the company is looking especially promising.
Now, it seems that the current owners of the German industrial 3D printer manufacturer are toying with the idea of selling the company. That is, according to a source, the owners are in talks with advisers about the sale, which has already garnered interest from a number of private equity firms and tech companies. So far, all interested parties have opted to remain anonymous to keep the sale process as private as possible.
Of course, it is entirely possible that Concept Laser GmbH will decide not to sell, though initial offers have apparently been valuing the company at a high cost, (between 600 and 900 million euros). While these are all the details we have as of yet, we’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the potential sale.
We can also expect to see a new 3D printing system introduced by Concept Laser by the end of this year, which is said to reflect their “AM Factory of Tomorrow” vision. According to the company, they envision their new product as a collection of stand-alone processing stations which feature 400 x 400 x 400mm³ build envelopes and combine 1 to 4 laser systems with multilaser technology. The upcoming additive manufacturing product is expected to open the doors for more efficient and economical automated series production for metallic parts.
