Acuity Design has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new fused filament 3D printer, Helix, a professional grade 3D printer. Helix is equipped with a dual-extruder and a large build volume (30 liter) capable of creating short-run production parts and functional prototypes.

Currently Acuity Design has already raised more than $30,800 within 10 days, almost hits one-third of its $95,000 goal. Today Acuity Design shared their first dual-material print video, along with some test prints.

Acuity Design is building 10 pre-production units for testers, for $4,750 you can get one Helix Beta unit assembled and calibrated. You can also pledge $5,250 for the Early Bird Special, one of the initial ten production Helix printers off the line. When it launches next year, the price will be around $6,850.

It's still in beta. I imagine they'll work a lot of that out before they ship production units.
