A special addition to this year's Victoria's Secret runway show on Dec.10, 2013 will be Snow Angels wearing 3D-printed corset encrusted with millions of illuminating Swarovski crystals.

Victoria's Secret have teamed up with architect Bradley Rothenberg from 3D printing company Shapeways to produce new costumes for the show. The show will be fairy-tale inspired, with American fashion model Lindsay Ellingson as the Snow Queen, the iconic ice queen. And her Snow Angels will also be very angelic, all in icy costumes. The costume was made to fit Ellingson exactly from a 3D scan of her figure. 3D printing technology was used to create the beautiful wings, a crown and the geometric characteristics of the design's snowflake motif, which will be encrusted with millions of Swarovski crystals.

"This is a new way to make a garment that's never been done before," explained Shapeways industrial designer Duann Scott to Style. "We've seen some 3-D printing in fashion, in the haute couture in Europe. So it's been very rigid things, very artful things, but nothing that's been nice to wear. This is the first piece for a mainstream brand—with a focus on the elegant, sensual form—not just rigid and stiff and alien-like. It's wearable."
