The holiday season is fast approaching and do you love to make something high tech this year? Then you should check out what Zach Burhop has made. Zach Burhop, an aerospace engineer and industrial designer, wanted to make his Christmas tree special.

"My birthday is Christmas day, so I wanted to try to do something different this year. I was very disappointed in what you can buy–mostly just classical decorations. I saw the ornaments and had started playing around with the LEDs and thought this would be an awesome mashup!" Burhop explained to Solidoodle.

He decided to uses his own talents and skills to soup up his Christmas tree with 3D printed ornaments. And not only that, he has also added a 2m strip of nano pixels and a custom star also created using Arduino. when connected to a micro controller the led strip can control each led in the strip individually and you could do animations and color effects through your computer.

So Burhop made an Arduino-powered Christmas tree with 3D printed ornaments created using a Solidoodle 3D printer. And since the tree comes in white, it serves as an interesting backdrop for a variety of 3D printed ornaments, including Burhop's favourite Superman logo, spaceship, rocket, etc. If you fancy creating your very own Christmas tree, check out the video below:
