New York-based startup Floored announced today its $5.26 million Series A round led by RRE Ventures, with participation by new investor Greycroft Partners and existing investors Two Sigma Ventures, Lerer Ventures, and Felicis Ventures.
Floored scans office spaces, apartments and houses using laser sensors and then generates 3D models of interior spaces using an impressive 3D modeling software for the commercial real estate market.
Floored's software works with 3D models generated by Matterport, a 3D scanner that allows users to basically point a gun and do instantaneous scan-to-model of their surrounding environment, for example your house, without point clouds in the middle. Then Floored uses software to clean up the models and collect data, such as dimensions or window space. The whole process only takes a couple of days.
The real game-changing part is that it allows users to work on the model, moving furniture, walls, or adding windows, sunlight to test it. Users can simply experiment it from browser or any mobile device. "Once you have a 3D model, you want to see what's possible with it," said Floored Co-Founder & CEO David Eisenberg.
Then companies in the real estate, architecture, interior design and furniture industries can simply embed these scans and 3D models on their website, as simply as embedding a YouTube video. Floored's clients are some of the most prestigious in the industry such as Hines, Taconic Investment Partners, Related Companies, CBRE, Cushman Wakefield and others, use the software for the purposes of developing, marketing, & analyzing commercial, residential, and retail real estate.
"Floored is enabling its real estate developer clients to market their available space in completely new ways," said Greycroft Partners Founder and Managing Director, Alan Patricof.
"Floored is the rare New York startup with strong differentiated technology, a nascent but growing market segment and proven customer success with some of the top commercial real estate firms," said Stuart Ellman, a co-founder & Managing Partner at RRE.
