Orlando, Fla. designer Fernando Sosa (aka Mstyle183) created a 3D printed, full color sandstone figurine of Chris Christie directing traffic during the September lane closures on the George Washington Bridge. Chris Christie is wearing a traffic cone on his head, orange vest on his body and holding a stop sign with the words "STOP! Traffic study." in his hand.
"We all heard the story from Chris Christie making fun of the Washington bridge scandal.. He joked that he was wearing a construction best and putting down cones directing traffic. " said Sosa, after seeing the governor's press conference in December. "I just couldn't get the picture of it out of my head, him playing with the cones, calling it a 'traffic study.' So I made it."
Sosa decided to create a new line of political inspired desk toys or figurines. He created the 3D model using a few several computer programs, and then sent it to Shapeways. The model is 4.5 inches tall and was 3D printed using full color sandstone, a material with a coarse finish and a delicate feel.
Now you can own your own 3D printed traffic directing Chris Christie. Sosa sells the figure for $37.87 on Shapeways. The model was launched last week, Sosa has sold five Christie figures up to now.
"I'm like everyone else," Sosa said. "I like politics when it's funny. Colbert, 'The Daily Show.' I'm not politically affiliated."
