Cambridge, Ontario based Canadian company ORD Solutions has announced that they are looking for a new name for their 5 nozzle 3D Printer MH3000 version 2 and they'll give a free printer to the submitter of the name they use!
ORD Solutions launched its 5 color/material 3D filament printer MH3000 R1 on Kickstarter in October 2013. The startup raised CAD116,592 from 96 backers, which is over 400% of their $25,000 goal. They have now shipped to all of their Kickstarter backers and are now shipping from their web store.
A new version of their printer, currently labelled the MH3000 R2 is in development, and will be launched on Kickstarter this summer. But they are looking for a catchier name that better reflects their printer's unique capabilities.
The MH3000 R2 printer features:
- Aircraft grade aluminum plate frame for rigidity
- 5 print nozzles, each with their own Bowden style extruder
- Extruders moved off the X-carriage to make it faster and lighter
- All metal hot ends capable of printing at temperatures up to 450°C
- Hot ends are liquid cooled to prevent jamming
- 20 amp heated bed for fast heating and capable of temperatures up to 115°C
- High torque stepper motors for faster and more accurate prints
- Comes fully assembled and ready to print
ORD Solutions invites all residents of Canada and the United States to enter the "RENAME OUR PRINTER" contest. And the winner of the contest will win a Version 2 of the 5 Color/Material with Liquid Cooling 3D Printer valued at $2599.99 USD.
Director of Marketing, Jenn Gibson, said of the contest: "We have been racking our brains trying to think up a name that accurately reflects our printer's strengths, and we've come up blank. Instead of paying an advertising company to come up with a name, we decided to use the money to fund a printer, and see what our customers and potential customers can come up with. If we choose one of the submitted names, the submitter will get a free printer. It's that simple."
The contest runs until June 20, 2014, visit here for full contest details.

Looks like the entry model is only $1500, which isn't too too bad. In this day and age though to have a printer without auto calibration is just insane.

"Lucidous" seems pretty cool and weird. Keeps the people wondering. (t.ariel39@yahoo.com)
