Are you looking for a fun project for this summer? Check out this cool 3D printed watermelon dispenser. Household Hacker asked people at Robo3D, a desktop 3D printer maker, to built a sweet tap. And it is really cool: with this 3D printed tap and a good recipe you can turn a watermelon into the life of any summer barbecue.
The plans can be downloaded on Thingiverse. If you have an access to a 3D printer, you can print out the tap directly. The first step is to find a watermelon that can stand up on its own and cut off the top of the watermelon. Next you can scoop all the watermelon out, leaving just enough fruit to help flavor whatever beverage you decide to put inside. Then you can cut a hole about half size of the tap directly in the watermelon, somewhere near the base. After the hole is ready be sure to slowly force the tap through the hole, as you want to make it a very tight fit to form a seal. Now you are ready to go.
You can now fill the watermelon with lots of ice to keep things chilled, then add the beverage of your choice and place the lid back. You will now be ready to use this new 3D printed watermelon keg to serve a yummy summer cocktail.
