Arduino, the most commonly used Open Source hardware platform, and Milan based Italian 3D printer manufacturer Sharebot have announced a new 3D printer MATERIA 101.

Launched in 2005, Arduino's platform was designed to help makers with little or no technical background to create their electronic products. The Arduino's ecosystem includes a series of simple and accessible electronic boards, an open-source Arduino software that makes it easy to write code and upload it to the i/o board and a community to allow anyone to connect with each other to help, cooperate and contribute to this project.

The Materia 101 made its debut last weekend on the official Arduino twitter account. Today the two companies unveiled more details on this new Arduino / Sharebot 3D printer.

The Materia 101 is a high precision 3D printer, designed and developed for educational and consumer market. Arduino plays a role in the promotion and dissemination of open-hardware in Italy and abroad. The printer itself is based on Sharebot's experiences with the development of 3D printers. Sharebot's latest 3D printers include Voyager DLP 3D printer, SnowWhite selective laser sintering (SLS) system, FDM 3D printer Q, and XXL 3D printer.
