Last year, Italian maker Davide Marin launched an innovative DLP 3D printer LumiFold on indiegogo and raised more than $15,600USD from supporters, 1,043% of its $1,500 goal. LumiFold is a small and foldable 3D printer (measuring just 250 x 120 x 30mm when folded) that you can put in your your backpack or briefcase to travel with. It has only a building area of 90 x 90 x 90mm.

The LumiFold is a resin-based 3D printer, where a laser fuses liquid resin into solid form. The cool thing is, you can use almost every projector with this light curing 3D printer. With LumiFold, an integrated UV sensor measures the exact UV light level of your projector and automatically adjusts the layer time.

Five months ago the company finished the production of the first batch of LumiFold 3D printers. After its delivery, Marin and his team founded LumiIndustries dedicating to the further development of desktop DLP 3D printers.

Based on its successful model LumiFold, the team has created a new portable DLP 3D printer LumiPocket. "Lumipocket is an upgraded version of LumiFold." Marin told us. "It is more compact, but with the same printing area." The LumiPocket is very user-friendly and features a resolution of 50 micron. The device comes with intuitive software, making it very easy to use. "We worked hard to create a proudly 'Made in Italy' product!" Marin added.

The LumiPocket will be officially launching during this weekend's Maker Faire Rome. "At launch, the LumiPocket will be priced at 300 euros." Marin said. The company will then launch a new crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in the next days.

"To thank all people who supported us in first stages of our project, we decided that, in case we will reach the target of our new crowdfunding campaign, all backers of our previous Lumifold's campaign will receive a free LumiPocket." stated Marin. Stay tuned for more details.

Below is Lumi Industries' interview with You Mark, a special preview of their new model. The video is in Italian only.
