Good news for people who use Adobe Photoshop to create 3D models: you can now turn your Photoshop CC (Creative Cloud) creations into real objects through i.materialise's 3D Printing service.

Photoshop CC now supports direct 3D printing with many materials offered by i.materialise, and will also provide useful functions such as instant pricing and automatic mesh repair.

To get started with the process, you need to first download i.materialise's 3D Printer profile from the Photoshop website. Once your download is complete, install the profile in your computer by clicking File (on the top menu bar) > Scripts > Browse > .JSX file (in the i.materialise printer profile folder).

After installing the printer profile, click "3D" on the menu bar in Photoshop and then choose "3D Print Settings"and select "i.materialise" in the "Print to". Under Printer options, you'll choose for the materials that i.materialise offers for 3D Printing from Photoshop: Brass, Silver, Ceramics, Multicolor, and Prime Gray, with a range of colors and finishes that are made available for each material.

Just like when you're uploading your model to the i.materialise's 3D Print Lab, you can check the cost of 3D printing in Photoshop. You can click "Estimate Price" at the end of the materials list under "Printer", Photoshop will automatically repair your model's mesh, making it solid and printable. i.materialise can then use its algorithm to estimate the price and in a few seconds, the estimated price for each material and the available finishing options will appear on your screen.

Once you decide the materials and finish for your 3D model, click the "Upload" button and you'll see a preview and summary of your model and 3D printing preferences. Afterwards you can click "Export," and save your file in .STL format. You are then ready to upload your model to the i.materialise website. Once you click "Yes" button, the material and finishing options you chose on Photoshop will be reflected in the 3D Print Lab. Simply upload the .STL file you just exported from Photoshop and process with payment. Now you have only to wait for the print to be delivered.
