Anyone who's ever worked on a whole 3D printing project from start to finish will doubtlessly agree with me when I say that design is by far the most complicated part. Unless you're an absolute genius, you will often new various iterations and rely on a variety of programmes to get your creation exactly right.

Fortunately an ever-increasing number of programmes and smartphone apps exist to cope with this 'problem' (some might especially enjoy it), that aim to make 3D design as intuitive and accessible as possible. And in that latter category, a new app has just been released in the Google Play Store that will specifically enable you to make fun and original rings.

Ringz – the 3D ring designer does exactly what it says on the tin. While not exactly perfect to make a wedding ring with (it has to be 3D printed, after all), it will very easily allow you to design rings of whatever size (in mmm) and add complex, original, chaotic designs – whatever you prefer.

As one of its designers, Miro Straka, explained to 3ders.org, the app is intended to raise awareness of and interest in 3D printing. It has been developed by the Slovakian team that is also behind ShuffleArch, an equally useful 3D interior design app. As Miro explained, 'Ringz is a smaller, experimental app, which was developed while we were in negotiations with big client about ShuffleArch release conditions. At the moment is it fairly simple app, to test the interest in the subject.'

Miro is a 24 years old designer-tunred-coder who has deep passion for 3D printing. She started exploring possibilities of 3d printing several years ago. She has organized couple of exhibitions and lately a fashion show with 3D printed objects in Slovakia.

Perhaps due to that simplicity, the app is extremely easy to use and quite fun to play with. Your designs can be saved as OBJ files, which can be subsequently used in any of the commonly used 3D modelling programmes. Simply upload it into, say, SolidWorks, and save it as an STL files to print. What could be easier? The Ringz app is also absolutely free and quite small, so android users should head over to the Play Store and check it out.
