Facebook has added Sketchfab media integration. 3D model sharing service Sketchfab announced today that Facebook now supports Sketchfab 3D embeds.
Sketchfab is an online publishing platform which allows tinkerers and designers to upload and share their 3D scans and models. Users can publish and embed their interactive 3D models on any webpage in real time without having to use plugins. It's just like youtube, but for 3D files. Users can also follow and contact 3D artists and request copies of models or hire 3D modellers from the site.
From now on, users will be able to simply add a link to a Sketchfab model in their post window, and Facebook will automagically turn it into a real-time 3D viewer.
"With a small team, we've built something that is so good that Facebook wants to bring it to their 2bn users." stated Alban Denoyel, Co-founder and CEO of Sketchfab. "We are proud to be one of the very few partners to provide rich HTML5 content on Facebook, and the first interactive format to be supported in the newsfeed."
